Cavalier Rescue USA is a foster and adoption program for Cavaliers in need of loving new homes. We cover rescue adoptions nationwide and are associated with the original parent club for the breed, CKCSC, USA.
Cavaliers are given to rescue by owners no longer able to keep them or sometimes rescued from shelters and pounds. The dogs are then brought into foster homes where they are evaluated, brought up to date medically, and cared for by dedicated volunteers until a permanent, loving home is found. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and welcome donations to help us pay for the medical needs of foster dogs.
This blog is maintained by Rescue volunteers.
Ann,
Love the cool design, the au courant colors, the easy to read font, and that wonderful painting you have pictured in the block above recent posts! Who was the painter?
Best,
Denise Bridgens
Thanks, Denise! The painting is actually an excerpt from a larger portrait we saw at the Met in NY, of King Charles II by Van Dyck. I took it with my digital camera… cutting out the King. After all, the dogs were far more interesting…lol!
we have two elderly cavaliers that we love–we would love to be home to another. they have been a joy to us..keep us posted.
I am looking for female dog in the Dallas, Tx area. 214 673 5276.
Hello! My name’s Megan Little. I live in Irving, TX (just outside of Dallas). In a few months (about 6 actually), I’m looking to adopt a dog. I know I’m looking early but I’m not taking the decision to get a dog lightly since this will be the first dog I’ve owned on my own.
From everything I’ve read the most important thing to good breeders is the lifestyle of the person adopting/buying their dogs. I understand why you’d want that information and I want to share my lifestyle with you since you’re familiar with the breed you’d be able to tell me if my life + the dog would make a good match.
I’m 25, I live in an apartment and I feel like my life is starting to level out. I have one roommate and she has an adult female cat. I work 40 hours a week but I’m only 10-15 minutes away from home and go back home for lunch often. There would be about a 30 minute span of time I could let my dog out. Walking my dog in the evening won’t be a problem but in the morning would be more difficult. I would be able to let him/her out in the morning to go to the bathroom but it wouldn’t be like morning exercise. I’m home in the evenings all the time and I get home usually around 4pm so I will have plenty of time to spend with him/her. There’s also a doggie day care not far from where I live – “Pete and Mac’s” or “Camp Bow Wow” – I plan on taking my dog there about 2 times a week so he/she won’t have to be alone all of the time and also get him/her socialized.
I’ve been looking into the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel as the breed I’d like to adopt. I understand they are faithful, loving, and gentle animals. I want to know from someone who’s familiar with the breed. What are the challenges with this breed? How much do they shed? How easy are they to train (obedience, tricks, etc…)? How well do they live with other animals? I’m looking for strictly a pet dog, I have every intention of spaying/neutering him/her. Do you feel there are differences in the sexes as far as attitude? In looking at Cavalier King Charles dogs (keeping in mind I want it for pet purposes only) are there characteristics in the dog/puppy I need to look for? Questions I need to ask their owner?
I am VERY interested in adopting a rescue dog – My mom volunteer’s with and is on the board of directors for a animal welfare society so I understand how great of a pal rescue animals can be. Any information on local rescues you can give would be helpful as well.
And lastly, as a future new dog owner – Any advice?? I’m sure you’ve had plenty of dogs and I’ve grown up with them but never have been totally responsible for one. My dad has border collies and great prynese and my mom volunteers at an animal shelter in my home town.
Thank you for reading this long winded email. I would appreciate any and all advice you have to offer.
Thank you,
Megan

I am looking for a cavalier to adopt. We live in Fort Worth, TX. Have already completed the adoption form but have not heard anything yet. We already have a 2 year old male that would love a pal and once you have one cavalier you realize you must have one more. They are just so much love wrapped up in a ball of fur. I’ve never experienced anything like this and I’ve had other pets before. If anyone hears of a blenheim or a ruby that needs a home please let me know. Thank you so much. Sandi

I have 3 children 12,10, and 5 and we are looking for a female Blenheim under 12 months old. I would like a rescue. My children want a puppy and would take great care of her. We are in Allen, Texas. Please help me make my children happy!
I adopted Sweet William in Feb of 2007 from this site. He is a love. I come back here often to read the stories of adoption but it seems , other than these messages, there is no activity here. Has the ckcs rescue disbanded? I hope not!
Sweet William (Sunny) was 8 to 10 years old when I got him. I was told he was hard of hearing, but discovered he is totally deaf. But its worked out great. I live in a retirement village, so barking can be a problem, but Sunny doesn’t hear people or other dogs outside and does not bark. He is the most “balanced dog” I’ve ever known. I sometimes dog sit for others and Sunny is very accepting and friendly to other dogs. And not a bit territoral. He loves his lap time but mostly he loves his dinner time! He is a definite chow hound.
I have owned Cavaliers previously(adopting one(middle age) from a friend relocated oversees in the military). My last Cavalier died from old age several years ago and I would love to share the experience with my youngest son. Our family lives on a 53 acre farm and I have 4 children (3, 9, 12, 14) who would love to love a Cavalier.
Dear Reader,
Please contact me if you have a Cavalier that needs to be rescued in the Oswego,Ny-Syracuse,Ny area.

Sincerely,
sarah~
